You can. Go to Options > Customize > Data Entry. There is a setting
there for enter key behaviour. If you set it to "selects default
command" then the Enter key will execute the search. That of course
assumes you are in the search screen at the time. On the Name list is
will select the person highlighted since select is the default command
on that screen.
