You could also produce the reports you want in PDF format in Legacy and email those as an attachment. Most people have Adobe Acrobat Reader these days and can open and read PDF documents. No conversion required.

G'day,

Like many of us I live in a country not of my birth and more to the point
not where the majority of my ancestors were born and lived their lives.

I want to use overseas family members to add to my existing database and
can either print a set of report pages and them snail mail overseas. (This
takes >2 weeks to get a response - even if the information is ready
immediately.)

OR I can scan the set of pages and then email an attachment (This is time
consuming and clumsy for me as my scanner only does single pages & of course
the jpg file becomes obsolete once the base records have been updated).

I know that I can email as a GEDCOM but what if the email recipient does not
have an understanding of genealogy software packages such as Legacy what
step by step procedure can I give them to convert a Gedcom into something
(e.g. Word/Excel etc) that they can view on screen/print a hard copy (&
possibly even update via their own PC)

Whilst typing this it's occurred to me that I could initially email the
GEDCOM to myself and do a conversion to Word/Excel on my own PC then email
this more typical file to the rellie - which will save them heaps of work &
improve the chances of getting a reply!

Any ideas that might help me would be appreciated.
