Bill, I wonder if there is some way you could explain "blank book" like you
did for us. I am sure there will be questions in the mind of the reader. By
the way, I like your fences!

Monty, the "blank book" is one of the fill-in-the-blanks genealogy record
books. I treated it like you would a Family Bible by giving the date of the
original book. If the book were dated 1964 rather than 1915, then I would
know it wasn't my grandmother's work. There's an interesting story about
that book. I remember it from visiting my grandmother more than 50 years
ago. When my first cousin moved to out-of-state a few years ago, my sister
transcribed some of the info and sent it to me. Then one day a couple of
years ago I called my cousin and asked her to send me a complete photocopy.
Instead she sent me the original book. I spent a lot of time working out
what my grandmother had written and what her daughter had written. I
eventually figured out that in some cases my grandmother was dictating the
info to her daughter, for example based on the references to "grandmother,"
which were my grandmother's grandmother, but were in my aunt's handwriting.
Then there were names which my aunt would not have known. Some items of the
information are unique proof of several relationships. Glad I made that
call.
