My solution to the hard disk crash problem is as follows: I keep my (primary) data file on a USB drive (which I also use on my laptop). I have Legacy set to ask me to do a backup every time I exit. I always backup to the hard drive of the computer I am currently using, not the USB drive, so if either fails, I have my data on the other (actually in 3 places counting the laptop).
For what it is worth, here is my backup scheme: I have created several backup files for each day of the week; i.e., filename Mon A (Since my data file is called "Bruce" the backup is "Bruce Mon A", etc.) filename Mon B filename Mon C filename Tue A filename Tue B filename Tue C etc. Then, when I exit Legacy and it asks me where to backup, I use the A file for the current day of the week (I do need to tell Legacy to reuse the existing file). If I backup more than once in a given day, I use the B file, etc. This gives me quite a number of backup files, but it does not grow, so I don't need to worry about deleting old files. I could also save a backup once a month or so, but I have not done that. On 4/27/06, Tish <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Thank you so much, Cathy. That is really helpful.
