Jim, The Q date format was introduced to record a situation found in the United Kingdom. Registrations are reported to the General Register Office on a calendar quarterly basis and recorded in indices. Thus, a birth registered in May of 1900 would be recorded in Legacy as "June Q 1900." (The month used in the date is the third month of each quarter.) The pitfall for researchers is that an event recorded in, for example, the second quarter might actually have occured in the first quarter!
