Hi Rob,

The only way I can successfully do this is to tag the descendants (NOT entire descendant line) of each of the end of line ancestors in the branch I'm wanting to isolate.

I use the Pedigree View and navigate to the extreme right and then tag descendants from top to bottom so that I don't miss anyone. Where there is more than one screen, of course I have to return to my father and move out on another branch. If you right click on a name in the Pedigree View, you can access the Tag dialogue for that person.

Theoretically you can use "Tag entire ancestor line" but this drags in everyone for me because of the number of marriages between twigs on my father's side and twigs on my mother's.

The disadvantage of my method is that you miss side branches you may have followed - although I know it is those side branches that have added to my problems. By side branches I mean following the in-law ancestors and descendants, not the sibling ancestors and descendants.

When you export the Gedcom you can at least add the parents, other spouses and other children of those who married in.

I have been trying unsuccessfully to export part of my
family file to a GEDCOM. Specifically, I want to
export the paternal side of the family beginning with
my paternal grandfather and his wife, all their
ancestors, as well as spouses, children and
descendants of those ancestors. No matter how I try to
tag them, I end up tagging my mother's side as well. I
would be very grateful if anyone could help me with
this problem.
