Hi Steve

Could you post this message for me to Legacy Users, I am one of the UK
citizens that can't get through.

Ivy Murphy from Manchester UK says.

Q dates do not belong as the date of birth they are the date the birth was
registered and as such belong as part of the reference number to the source
of
birth. In the UK you are allowed 6 weeks to Register the birth of a child,
however the only criteria that the authorities will not overlook is you
registering the birth in the wrong place.

When one of my children was born I just happened to be in a different town to
the one I lived in and had to stay put because of a snowstorm I later was
sent
home with new child but became ill we did not have a car in those days and
returning to the place of birth was a little difficult for quite a while
added
to the fact the town registrar that the birth HAD to be registered at was
only
open 3 days in the week in the event although my sons birthday was 3/3/1963
his Q date appears as 3rd Q 1963, in my opinion when the actual date is not
available either an abt year or just the year are far more accurate Legacy
provides plenty of other places to put your opinions that transfer easily by
Gedcom.

Sorry I can't join in the debate personally and thank you Steve for your
help.
