I have one Master Source set up for each *type* of certificate (ie, birth, marriage, death) that I've purchased from the General Register Office (GRO) and in the Source Detail put in the information from the indexes that would enable someone looking at my data to purchase a copy for themselves if they so wished.

For example, for birth certificates:

    Master Source Definition:
    Source List Name = Birth Certificate - GRO
    Type = Certificate
    Author = General Register Office
    Title = Certified Copy of an Entry of Birth

    Source Detail:
    Eliza PLAYFORTH, Dec q 1850 Pocklington vol 23 page 88

The output appears like this:

General Register Office, Certified Copy of an Entry of Birth, Eliza PLAYFORTH, Dec q 1850 Pocklington vol 23 page 88. Cit. Date: 30 Mar 2006

The title is in italics, which I can't reproduce here in a plain text post. :-)

I started out with a separate Master Source for each individual certificate that I purchased, but found it became unwieldy. Thanks to a post to this list, I changed to the method I've outlined above, and have been very happy with it. I use a similar method for certificates/registrations purchased in other countries, too.

Hope this helps, Bruce.  :-)
