I had a problem with "save as word document" when I started
In the box "save as type" where it says " Rich Text Format (*.rtf)"
click on the arrow to the left and then click on on "Word Document (
*.doc) "

I created a Descendent Report as a RTF file and opened it in my MS
"Word" program. So far so good. On the last page it says I should
generate an index using the embedded information in the report (more or
less - my words). I asked the little paper clip guy what the heck this
was all about and I almost grasp the concept of how it is supposed to
work but the actual mechanics of how to make it all happen are just
beyond my reach.
I hope there is a simple step by step explanation available about how to
do this for this specific application.
Once you have imported the document into Word, click on File -> Save As
and Save it as a Word document (same name, just a .doc extension
Close and reopen the Word version.
Move the cursor to the end of the document (Ctrl-End)
Press <ENTER> a couple of times to make some space
Clicl on Insert --> Index & Table of Contents --> Index
Freview the formats and pick one you like
Click OK
There's your index.
