It does no disservice to my reputation whatsoever because my reputation depends on how I treat my buyers (or swappers/sellers), not how I dispel ill-intended FUD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear,_uncertainty_and_doubt). The antithetical posters could have emailed me privately if they felt qualms about something, but they chose to do it a different way. My reputation depends on how clearly and honestly I describe what I sell(*), how quickly and appropriately I send off the packages and how I handle any support issues. I'm proud to say that I do an excellent job in all those areas. * Now let's talk about this point because surely someone will likely try to nit-pick: "Oh, but you didn't say that Linux is a free OS". Right. It's free for download, not for a pre-printed CD/DVD and a manual. Here's another example which someone with ill intentions can take and twist: when an ADB cable is sold, the seller never writes: "Look, I'm selling this for a few bucks, but there are billions like them and people literally give them to me for free when they dump their old hardware, so I really got it for free, but I'm selling it now". It's just understood. Just like we don't know if you really got what you're selling for free, or if you paid for it. But we don't go around yelling in your threads: "hey, those damned ADB cables, why are you selling them? They're for free on every recycling site!".
