MOSCOW -- Saddam Hussein is calm in face of war, Russia's
Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov said Thursday, a day after
holding a three-hour meeting with the Iraqi president in Baghdad.

Zyuganov was part of a Russian parliamentary delegation that met
with
Iraqi leadership this week in a show of support for Moscow's
Soviet-era ally.

The Russian Communist chief told his other party leaders that
"Saddam
Hussein is looking at the situation realistically."

"He is prepared to cooperate further with the UN Security Council
and
(weapons) inspectors," said Zyuganov.

He added: "Saddam Hussein is calm. He has very carefully assessed
the balance of power in the international arena."
