I don't see why there should be many conflicts. Udev_update doesn't touch that many files, IIRC. Regardless, I completely agree that it's time the two branches got merged. Sadly, I'm unlikely to be able to take part in that process as I'll be on holiday from Friday 8th to Sunday 16th this month.
