Hi there LFS users, developers, and maintainers. I'm on my journey through
the LFS book, but I can't help noticing (to the point of stopping me and
making me go to the IRC room and ask questions) that the book may be lacking
some critical information. For example, in section 3.1, it mentions that we
can use a wget-list to download the packages in one command, although it
requires going to the IRC support room in order to get this specific
command, in case one does not understand how to use wget-list. Another
fairly large step that seems to be missing, is mentioning when to extract
the archives, and where to put the folders. (I'm assuming in the tools
directory.) It's nice that the book goes into detail as to the commands for
making directories, but it never says how to mass extract gzip or bzip2
archives. This can be very confusing to anyone who is new to this project,
since if one step is missed, that can affect everything else.

Thank you for taking this message into consideration, I hope you will put it
into action as well.
