Figured it out. zlib's website lists zlib.1.2.3 not the zlib.1.2.2 as
required by LFS6.1 - as a result one of the soft links is libz.so ->
libz.so.1.2.2 - but the built versions are libz.so.1.2.3
I now understand what FBBG means :-)

Subject: module-init-tools-3.1 cannot find -lz
My LFS build has been pretty flawless except for when I'm building
module-init-tools-3.1
I'd skipped building zlib-1.2.3 (which generates libz.so) and when I came
to module-init-tools-3.1 it failed to link -lz
So I went back - built zlib-1.2.3 and then tried building
module-init-tools-3.1 again - no luck, it still fails...
Any suggestions about what I've probably messed up... (I'm assuming -lz is
link libz.so)
Thanks
Krishna
