hello again, thanks a lot for your replies. When i started with blfs i
decided that all i wanted to do was to install any gui so i can simply
continue working on it from a friendlier level. Currently by the way, my lfs
is on a hard disk by itself and i boot into it directly. After copying the
packages that i needed on to a folder, because i havent been able to install
my network interface to download them directly, i tried several times
following the guide and failed. What i then decided was to start the blfs
book from the beginning and that has also been a problem. The most recent
error that im getting is something that looks like : "gcc: cannot exec as' "
i know that this is a frequent error and that it has to do with the
compiler. Normally in any other linux distro i would know what do to to fix
it, but i am honestly afraid to do something wrong in my lfs. Please help me
in this matter....i cant seem to get started.

first thing is check the md5sums.generally i have experienced that some
data get screwed when you burn to dvd.and source code wont compile with
even a small inconsistency.

hmmm....how do u connect to the net.PPPoE or DHcP or how?the answer
depends on that. The simplest thing is to compile support for whichever
protocol u use into the kernel itself.I use DhcP ,so i've compiled it into
the kernel. My computer detects the ip info at bootup. But it is also
possible to do it without building it directly into the
kernel.WARNING:thekernel menuconfig pregram warns that building support for
connection right
ito the kernel is experimental.so you are better off following the blfs
book for PPPoE or DHcP connection.

I think some md5sums must be wrong....

Hope this helps.
