I'm not so sure about this. AFAIUI, xvid is used and documented by various howtos and tutorials on the net, as it seems to be easier to configure than ffmpeg's native mpeg4 encoder. We'll surely don't do anyone a favor by breaking those howtos. But I'm clearly no expert here either.
