This makes no sense, why would it be preferable to use xvid directly. Yes I know that everybody should use x264 these days, but many people still want to encode mpeg4 for some obscure reasons, so we shouldn't remove features just like that. I have little experience with mpeg4 encoding, but word of mouth says that our internal encoder is better with the right settings, but the defaults suck and options are poorly documented, so it's easier to get better results with xvid.
