I made a mistake and wrote Ubuntu when I meant Debian. However I actually did try installing ffmpeg version 1.0.10 from their repository (the wheezy main version), but the problem with that is that there is some difference between it and the version on my OS X box (ffmpeg version 2.2.2-tessus). The problem in brief is that the wheezy main version does not convert the file properly like the OS X version does. Even though the exact same arguments are used, the wheezy version produces files that cannot be played back smoothly on lower-powered machines, whereas when the OS X version does it the converted files play back flawlessly. Actually, on their download page at http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ it is pretty difficult to tell exactly what is the correct thing to add to /etc/apt/sources.list - it appears there is only a stable version for wheezy, and comparing the version number to the one in OS X, it seems rather dated. _______________________________________________ libav-tools mailing list [email protected] https://lists.libav.org/mailman/listinfo/libav-tools
