Each export "target" (entire sd code, so Draw and Impress) will behave differently, depending on its export filter. For example the raster image formats are just the active slide. Others like PDF or SVG are the full slide deck, with the 'Selection' checkbox on the dialog selectable. The File -> Export dialog is reused cross module, with filters configured to support.
