--- Comment #5 from m_a_riosv <[email protected]> --- Private message from @[email protected] 2026-07-13 00:15 " Subject: Re: [Bug 172698] Text Import Dialog fails to parse currency symbols ($) into numbers despite "Detect special numbers" and matching Locale being selected in this case as English Australia Cells get pasted as Text instead of numbers. Last used 1 year ago it used to work. Reply to your comments: Nothing was changed in Locale from last year. The locale is correct as English Australia. I do not know what to change elsewhere and why. Pasting the text from the Tab Limited Text file which is an output of a report from MYOB into a LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet in .xls format worked for nearly 20 years. I tried this year with both .xls and .ods formats. Neither work. So there has been a change in LibreOffice Calc's handling of how its Paste function works from a text file under an appropriate Import Dialogue. I do not understand your comment about .csv file. It not relevant to my requirements. I am requesting that the functionality that was there until last year is re-instated where the cells in the LibreOffice calc spreadsheet got pasted as Numbers, not as Text. Being pasted as Text makes all formulas referring to them as not working anymore. Ranjit Limaye " -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
