Automatic updater typically work in the background. OTOH, privacy is prime and for some reason users may not want to get updates nor even check for it. Under Windows an option allows to disable it, and the proposal is to show an infobar before the first communication happens asking whether this should be allowed. This infobar would not show up again, regardless the option is changed afterwards.
