--- Comment #3 from Jaideep <[email protected]> --- What happens: When using the default tabbed toolbar (Notebookbar - Home, Insert, Layout, References tabs), resizing or snapping the Writer window causes parts of the toolbar and style gallery to turn into solid black boxes. Icons and text underneath do not show. The black boxes stay until I restart LibreOffice. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open LibreOffice Writer with the default Notebookbar (tabbed) interface and Light application theme 2. Snap the window to one side of the screen (Windows key + Left or Right arrow) 3. Click between ribbon tabs (Home, Insert, Layout, etc.) 4. Toolbar icons and the style preview area turn black Important findings that narrow this down: 1. Switching LibreOffice's Application Theme (Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Application Colors) from Light to Dark makes the problem disappear completely. This is LibreOffice's own theme setting, not the Windows system theme. 2. Switching from the default Notebookbar (tabbed) layout to the classic Standard toolbar layout also makes the problem go away completely. 3. So the bug only happens when all of these are true: Light theme + Notebookbar layout + window resize/snap + Skia + integrated GPU. Dark theme fixes it. Standard toolbar fixes it. Either one alone is a working workaround. What I expected: The toolbar should render normally after resizing or snapping the window, no matter which theme or toolbar layout is used. What I tried (none of these fixed it, except switching theme or toolbar layout as noted above): - Full clean reinstall (uninstalled, deleted %APPDATA%\LibreOffice and %LOCALAPPDATA%\LibreOffice, deleted leftover registry keys, fresh install) - Tried on LibreOffice 26.8.0 - same problem - Tried on LibreOffice 26.2.5 - same problem - Unchecking "Use Skia for all rendering" - checkbox is greyed out and stays checked - Checking "Force Skia software rendering" - did not fix it - Restart in Troubleshoot Mode > Disable hardware acceleration - did not fix it - Updated AMD graphics driver to latest (Adrenalin 26.5.2) - did not fix it My hardware (laptop): - AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics (integrated GPU) - Windows - skia.log: RenderMethod: vulkan, Vendor: 0x1002, Device: 0x164c, DeviceType: integrated, Denylisted: no I also tested on a second computer (desktop, basic Intel integrated GPU, not AMD) and saw the same black box problem there too, also only with Light theme + Notebookbar, also fixed by switching to Dark theme or the Standard toolbar layout. Related bug: I found bug 171045, which has a similar root cause (Skia + AMD GPU + rendering corruption that Force Skia software rendering does not fix) but a different visual symptom (yellow background and green lines in Calc, instead of black boxes in Writer's Notebookbar).
