This is not what I said. There are no *values* but name ranges in my example.

Yes, I understood your point of view.

I just tried to explain better...

1. File> New> Spreadsheet
2. Select B1, type:
=IF(A1=y;"yes";"no")

Actual result :
=IF(A1='y';"yes";"no")
and the cell displays #REF

Here we also expect the user to type the quotes...
