Hmm, enabled that Writer Compatibility option (undocumented bug 131235) but that doesn't seem to provide this behavior: <snip> MS Word user forums suggest: 'Select' the full line of text (including all over the edge spaces), and 'Center' it (with <Ctl>+E shorcut) to delete all extra spaces, then still selected 'Align it' where preferred. </snip> Unfortunately, in LO Writer the selection and centering action does not remove the extra spaces in similar fashion.
