Personally I would add Bravo, mark it, and make it bold. But you can go back to
C (IOW, press alt+right after typing Alpha Charlie), toggle bold (ctrl+B), type
Bravo and a space. What I mean: the formatting never "bleeds" into the word for
me.

If the missing keybinding is "Emphasis" (.uno:EmphasisCharStyle), which is
indeed not available for customization, I agree. The actual command is
.uno:StyleApply with the parameter ?Style:string=Emphasis (and some other).
