Because of sqlite's cavalier attitude to the strict / static type discipline that underlies the SQL model, I feel that embedding SQLite won't give a robust solution overall. Maybe I can redirect you to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51780 instead, that is embed Firebird instead?
