*my* digital cameras squirt out 270Mbits/second...not that I'm boasting or 
anything!

But for stills, the going rate is 35mm slide, one week to process and scan 
at 1700dpi, so say 20MB * 8 * 36 /(7*24*60*60) which is about 10kbits a 
second - even my modem can cope with that :) But they still take around 
fifteen seconds on the desktop USB.
