The reason it's recommended that primary or secondary cells are not usually connected in parallel is to prevent differences in internal output impedance causing one battery becoming reverse charged. There's a tendency for one to empty before the other, and this is not usually a good thing[tm]. If they've been wired in parallel in the battery, then Tosh have presumably sorted this problem out - either improvements in the technology of the cell or the technology of the charger.
