Has anyone managed to get debian installed on the l70 yet? I'm getting there, using an installation from a copy of the 2.2r6 cd on the hard disc, but it's an uphill struggle. Problems so far - o the instructions and the real world differ in many places o after a hard disk primary boot installation, access at boot to the dos partition has vanished - presumably I can sort this out later by tweaking the config files for lilo. o the secondary install couldn't find the hard disk - fixed by mounting it in a separate tty window o having found the hard disk, it couldn't build an availability list - renamed the /potato directory as /stable (and back again so it could do the installation - oddly, couldn't link it) o anXious couldn't find the video chip as it's on a vesa bus on the 50/70, sorted by using XF86Setup instead. Though I do now have a minimum installation with icewm working... Is anyone interested in my writing this up as I do it and stuffing it on a web page? I don't want to flood here with it - it's bound to be a minority interest :) Neil _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
