Yeah... quite a few, and various versions of the same
ones. When my Libbys start clicking seriously (as
opposed to a few here and there), they click in all
audio playback software. If I shut the systems down,
and start them up immediately, they still click. But
if I shut the system down for 5-10 minutes and
restart... no clicks. Even just leaving the system
on, but not doing any work for 10-20 minutes will also
stop the clicking.

There seems to be a whole host if issues that cause
clicks in audio playback and recording. I remember
years back a Philips tech running me through a bunch
of tweaks to stop my 1st CD-R drive from recording
clicks. Some were: -turning off DMA for drives,
-lowing audio hardware acceleration and sample rate,
tweaking a few settings in Easy CD Creator, and a few
other things I can't remember right now.

But I've had the problem on my 50 & 70 over the years
with Win95/98/98SE, Realplayer, RealJukebox,
MusicMatch 4.0 (newer MMs never got off the ground),
WMP Vers.xxx, Winamp Vers 2.78/2.81/2.91/5.03/5,.04,
Foobar2000 Vers 0.7.6/0.8.1/0.8.3

I'm wondering if I've overheated my CPUs over the
years, from the heat I live in to throttling the
darned things so hard. On a cross country trip last
summer, the 70CT shut itself down a number of times
through the deserts with no A/C in the car while
playing MP3s and running GPS mapping software.

Then, I guess this really isn't the place to be asking
about this. There's never been very much conversation
about audio issues on the list. I keep telling myself
I ought to Google around the net a bit and see what
other support groups I might be able to find.

Matt
