My Libretto finally arrived today. It has Win98 in it and I'm planning to upgrade it to Win98se or Win2k (most likely Win2k). The Libby has a floppy drive and a LAN card but no CD-rom drive. How can I install Windows on it?
Wow... that question pops up all the time from new Libretto users. The process is probably on David Chien's Adorable Libretto website:

There are many, many posts on the various methods in the archives (see links below).
The easiest is to just add an extra partition your hard drive if you have the room, and copy the root x:\Win98 folder and files from the W98 setup disk to the new partition. You don't need the extra folders and files they contain in the x:\Win98 folder on the OS CD. Then boot the system from a Windows boot floppy and do a 'Format C:'. Then, change to the (probably) D: drive, CD\Win98 and run setup.exe. If you're already certain the disk is free of physical errors, you can get the installation to skip the time consuming process of running Scandisk by typing, I think it's 'setup /is' (is: ignore scandisk if I recall correctly).
The next easiest is to pull the hard drive, attach it to a desktop via a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE adapter, boot from a Windows 98 floppy with CD-ROM access. You can add an extra partition to the drive there with FDISK which will create a D: logical partition. Or you can use a DOS version of some other partitioning software. Format the new partition FAT32, and do a 'Format C:'. Then load the x:\Win98 folder and files to the new partition. Then replace the drive in the Libretto and run setup via the boot FDD method above.
Have I forgotten anything folks?
You'll find a few other methods in the archives, but those are the ones I think most people go with.
PS. Does anyone know whether Win2k supports dos "emulators" like Dosbox so I can
play old Sierra games?
Can't anser that one. Maybe someone else can help you there.
