copy the i386 directory from the windows install over to the libby hard dive and run the 2000 setup under 98.
Ah... I just assumed that John N. wanted to start fresh, and not upgrade the copy of W98 already on the Libretto he just got. Thus my approach of partitioning and formatting.
I did neglect to suggest that he get all of the Libretto drivers, and have them ready on the D: partition for when Windows 1st boots and PnP detects system hardware. The most vexing is always the dumb floppy drivers. Without addressing that 1st, you can end up waiting for ages for the system to look for a floppy that hasn't had drivers installed yet.
To get around that, I've found that when Windows 1st boots after installing it, and PlugnPlay dectects hardware and askes for places to search for drivers, I always uncheck the option to search the A: Floppy drive, and browse for a driver folder on the hard drive. After doing that, Windows will then always default to looking at hard drive for drivers, and the A: drive option will remain unchecked by default. Still, for the times I wasn't looking at those options carefully, it solved a lot of headaches for me by making sure the 1st driver I installed was the floppy drivers.
