If another PC is available you can get a cheap ($7USD?) adapter that'll let you plug the Libretto's hard drive temporarily into the other computer (which presumably has a CD-ROM drive) and you can do the file copy that way. Alternatively if you only have another laptop available, a USB 2.5" HDD case can be had for around $10-$15USD that'll let you plug it in and transfer the files that way. Make sure the only thing you do is copy files - don't touch the partitions from another computer unless you really know what you're doing!

Getting USB thumbdrives working under Win98 can be a bit hit-and-miss if you need to rely on PnP and default drivers ... it can almost certainly be done with the right drivers but unless you've memorised where the interface buttons are it can be difficult to troubleshoot if you don't know the language (I had to fix a Japanese Win98 install once and I can't read Japanese ... I managed it but it got real interesting trying to rack my brains as to which option was where!).

Good luck!

Still can't install Win2k on my libretto! The problem is that I just can't get
the damn i386 files into the libby. Peripherals I have;

-floppy disk
-USB PCMCIA card
-USB mp3 player
-USB cable modem

The problem is, the libby is installed with Win98 GERMAN... And I can't do
anything with it because my German is pretty poor. I can't get the mp3 player
to work (could be used as a 256mb thumbdrive but I just can't find the drivers
for Win98). Also can't install the cable modem because of the German interface,
and the floppy disk drive is just too slow and small for the i386 file
transfer.

I'm going to quit trying now, I just can't get it to work. Help.

Oh yes, the easiest solution would be to buy a PCMCIA cd-rom drive but I have
already bought so much peripherals that I just don't want to waste any more $$$
(bought PCMCIA USB card, PCMCIA wlan card and a new USB mouse just to get the
libretto working)
