Subject: OT: Osaka - any hints for someone looking for electronics?

I spent quite a few hours in the Sofmap store in Kyoto last year.
Loads of new stuff and components, also secondhand stuff. Nearly bought a
used Sony U101 but the credit card had already been stretched! Bought a 60GB
harddrive for my portege at half the UK price, high speed & 16MB cache too!
I don't know if there are any good stores in Osaka, although universal
studios is worth a visit!
I found generally that in the superstore electronic shops, the 'export'
floor was a waste of time with little or no saving.
For example I bought an external sony dvd burner for only 80 pounds with
Japanese box, the same thing in an english box was double the price. Of
course the software supplied and literature contained in the Japanese box
was multilingual (and worldwide voltage), just like the double priced
'export' unit!

Cheers,
Mike.
