I have been looking into the whole spam issue and David's explanation is correct in this case. I can not find anything that would be causing spam on the list. We are getting a ton of spam at the email account for the list but between the anti-spam measures that are implemented and the list software itself most if not all is removed.

I will certainly be keeping an eye on it.

Good work Dan! I know how hard you've been working to keep SPAM from clogging up the list server over the years!

Spam is pretty bad nowadays. you don't even need to use anything except
private addresses and you can be spammed. How? simple, the spammers merely need access any computer that sits between you and the target (because onn the internet, mail is often passed from you to many other computers on the way to the target), and they can pull that address from the data stream and spam.

other ways, since this list is public, is to pull it from the Mailing List Archives....

As I pointed out in another post, the domains for all email domains were deleted from the files of both archive sites a number of years back. So SPAM can't be generated from what's there now. If people have copies of the older archive files, and are still selling them to SPAMMERs, that's another thing, but it seems relatively unlikely to me.
