Hello,

I've used the multi-language development branch of libtool lately, and
appreciated it greatly. I recently had to compile one of our programs
on an i586-ncr-sysv4.3.03 machine. I then realized that the c++ support
hadn't been added for this plaform.

I was still able to have libtool work as I wished by manually editing it
to change the "require_version" to no, and by setting the archive_cmds
and archive_expsyms_cmds and others for CXX to what they were for the C
language. I used version 1.641.2.17 (2000/02/08) of libtool-ml, and the
g++ compiler, version 2.95.2. I believe all the GNU binutils were
installed on this machine.

I would like to help add the correct support for this platform for
libtool-ml.

My question is, do you have any sort of test suite that I could run on
the machine that would let us know what are the correct configurations
for "require_version" and the c++ configurations, for at least the GNU
compiler?

Thanks!

Martin
