Just a small note that the term Microsoft uses is "WinUSB Device".
That can help for finding their info about the MODs (special string
descriptors) and the special control request needed. (Yes, they only
planned it to be for WinUSB, but the mechanics work for other drivers
too as Pete pointed out. It's neat that there's finally plugandplay
on Windows too!)

What was the Windows Update situation again? Did you mention that
MS rolled out WinUSB Device support via Windows Update for Windows 7
or was that just a dream?
