I am happy enough with the device caching to include it in 1.0.16. I submitted 
a pull
request to bring the code into the libusbx master. Please test the code and let 
me
know if you run into any issues.

This weekend I will look into whether the darwin backend needs a hotplug_poll 
function
to address the race found on Linux.
