I've been having some (severe) problems with LICQ lately. I'm running the daily release tarballs every time I experience a problem, hoping it will be solved, but to no avail.
The problem occurs almost exclusively when communicating with another LICQ (daily) user, especially when we try to establish and maintain an SSL tunnel. He is using OpenSSL 0.9.6a, while I am using 0.9.6b. The first problem occurs when we have an SSL tunnel established. It seems that whenever either of us changes status (Online -> Away, Away -> Online, etc.) the tunnel will drop. Other times the tunnel will drop for no apparent reason and can not be re-established without one or both of us re-starting our LICQ clients; sometimes not even then. It appears as if one or both of our clients ceases to advertise our external IPs to the public (we are both behind NAT gateways, both advertising a range of available ports which our firewalls forward to our client machines). The second problem has been occuring more frequently lately, and happens when I attempt to open a (relatively un-extraordinary) message from him. First thing that happens when I double-click his name is a pop-up with my last sent message in it. The 'message waiting' icon is still visible. Next time I double-click his name, I get either a black message window or a normally coloured (white) window with "8,I" in it and nothing else. Next time I try to open the message I get this; Licq Segmentation Violation Detected.
