Why is this script needed at all? Couldn't licq just have an option to
sync the list to the server, or just do it automatically? Or is this
script just a converter for config files that were messed up by some
ancient licq version (I have been using licq for quite some time now).

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately the script did not work for me :-(
It seems to have reset all variables to 0, but when I close licq, and
start another icq client (i.e., kopete with all old config files deleted)
the contact list is still incomplete (missing the same entries as before).

I have just realized that licq prints the following warnings during startup:

10:10:03: [ERR] IniFile: Warning, failed to find key.
                File    = /home/tobox/.licq//licq.conf
                Section = [groups]
                Key     = "Group1.id"
10:10:03: [ERR] IniFile: Warning, failed to find key.
                File    = /home/tobox/.licq//licq.conf
                Section = [groups]
                Key     = "Group2.id"
10:10:03: [ERR] IniFile: Warning, failed to find key.
                File    = /home/tobox/.licq//licq.conf
                Section = [groups]
                Key     = "Group3.id"

May that be the problem?

Best regards,
Thomas
