Ah, didn't even see your patches above... we're definitely tackling this
the same way. Yours seems more complete, so it should be on the countdown
if it is no longer triggering errors. If it is, we can start from my
patch, add extra elements of yours and see where that breaks make doc.
Seems like a thorny Scheme memory issue...
