Hi, Christophe (and everyone else):
The only known drawback is that you need to use the "\set Staff.instr" statements at line breakings.
That, to me, is not a desirable solution -- one should be able to set the instr (e.g.) as soon as a player is changing instruments, and the engraver should "do the right thing"! [Unfortunately, I don't know C++ well enough yet to do any actual coding, or even give suggestions on this... sorry!]
