Well, there are ongoing efforts to move more functionality from C++ to Scheme (maybe `ongoing efforts' is an euphemism)... Additionally, the forthcoming version 2.0 of Guile features a compiler – hopefully, LilyPond will be able to make use of it so that it runs faster. If this is indeed the case it makes sense to move even more stuff from C++ to Scheme. Werner
