(We see there the effect of Mike's commit that cached the (millions) of 
page-fillings from Joe's line-breaking scheme; that caching made 2.14 3x faster 
than 2.12.)

I had seen the same, moderate, effect on Linux, but the same music suffers more 
with skylines on my WinXP system.  I'll try your Mikado on my WinXP system, to 
narrow down the key components that show the 2x slowdown.
