When I benchmarked with and without skylines, I found there was only a noticeable difference with a lot of markup or similar: "normal" music had almost no effect. As a result, I concluded with skylining was the correct default.
I agreed about the default being good, but normal music was 30% slower http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-devel/2013-09/msg00234.html (We see there the effect of Mike's commit that cached the (millions) of page-fillings from Joe's line-breaking scheme; that caching made 2.14 3x faster than 2.12.) I had seen the same, moderate, effect on Linux, but the same music suffers more with skylines on my WinXP system. I'll try your Mikado on my WinXP system, to narrow down the key components that show the 2x slowdown. _______________________________________________ lilypond-devel mailing list lilypond-devel@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-devel
