The only related mail I could find in the archives was http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/2002-07/msg00120.html but that patch has been included long before the 1.6.x versions.
It is the one I was looking for ! But I can assure you that the font.scm in 1.6.11 does not match to this patch.
