I use this concept continually, for my work, in almost every bar. Here are a couple of utility functions I wrote that you may find handy. Nothing special, just convenient. setBeamPos = #(define-music-function (left right) (number? number?) "Manually set beam position for next group." #{ \once \override Beam.positions = #(cons left right) #}) setBeamPosAll = #(define-music-function (left right) (number? number?) "Manually set beam position for following groups." #{ \override Beam.positions = #(cons left right) #}) Also, in your code, if you mean a length of 1, just use #1 for Scheme, not #’(1) as you had.
