I'm still using jEdit, though the LilyPondTool plugin is not maintained for a decade: http://lilypondtool.blogspot.com/2012/09/lilypondtool-2149-release-last-for.html Personally I don't care about it, though therefore I'd not recommend jEdit for starters. Cheers, Harm
