Nope. I use the vi editor, unix makefiles and a pdf viewer that
immediately refreshes when the displayed file changes.
I don’t think you’re actually contradicting Jeff as strongly as you make
it seem. He did say “almost essential”, and I believe as a power user
configuring and using vi with makefiles you might have to content
yourself with falling under this “almost” exception…
plus you also have a setup that enables you “to engrave/compile at the
touch of a button to refresh your views”, just that it’s not Frescobaldi.
