Hej David (and Kieren, thank you for making this visible on the list), I would absolutely chime in so you can at least somewhat make a living doing what you have been doing so far. Lilypond would definitely not be as good as it is nowadays without you.
But I think the conundrum is that Lilypond is generally too obscure to generate a giant funding pool, even though occasionally something pops up like: Lilypond helped me really a lot, can I maybe donate something to help the project? So I think we need to see two different things here: One is saying we all essentially employ you to work on Lilypond. This will probably not work out though, as we are too small. But what I think could work out is for us to give you some support so that you can hopefully continue working on Lilypond to some extent. Would you be willing to maybe use a platform like Liberapay?
