Because the publishers, the people in possession of the DTP program,
apparently have their workflow starting from DOC. And so I need to get
the raw information (in my case a Lilypond-LaTeX file processed via
lilypond-book and working perfectly fine for producing PDF) into the
form of a DOC file.


Me as a professional media designer would suggest to deliver whatever bad quality pictures to the publishers, but an additional set of EPSs or PDFs for the printshop.

Very often the publisher/editor/clerk requests DOC, because s/he doesn’t know anything else, and the media designer (at the printshop or some agency) tears her/his hair out for not getting any usable data...
